§ 524.2-603 — Antilapse; Deceased Devisee; Class Gifts; Words of Survivorship

Plain-Language Summary

This section creates a rule that a person named in a will must survive the deceased by at least 120 hours (5 days) to inherit, unless the will says otherwise.

Practical Notes
If a person named in a will dies within 5 days of the person who wrote the will, they are treated as if they died first and do not inherit. This prevents property from passing through two estates in quick succession.
