§ 609.231 — Mistreatment of Residents or Patients

It is a crime for anyone working at or running a licensed care facility to intentionally abuse, mistreat, or neglect a patient or resident in a way that causes physical harm. This is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail, a fine up to $3,000, or both.
