2025 Session Last amended: 2001 session

§ 609.687 — Adulteration

Plain-Language Summary

Adulteration means intentionally adding a harmful substance to food, drink, medicine, or water with intent to injure someone. This is a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.

Practical Notes
This law covers food tampering, product tampering, and poisoning of water supplies. It applies even if no one is actually harmed; the intent to injure is enough. This is a separate crime from assault.
