§ 60B.52 — Conservation of Property of Foreign or Alien Insurers Found in This State

Plain-Language Summary

This section allows the Minnesota commerce commissioner to ask the court for an order to protect the property of an out-of-state or foreign insurance company found in Minnesota. This can happen when the insurer is in financial trouble but no home-state liquidator has been appointed yet.

Practical Notes
This conservation power protects Minnesota policyholders and creditors when a foreign insurer becomes financially distressed. The commissioner can act quickly to prevent the insurer’s Minnesota assets from being removed or dissipated.
