2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 62A.0411 — Maternity Care

Plain-Language Summary

Health plans must cover at least 48 hours of hospital care after a vaginal delivery and 96 hours after a C-section for both mother and baby. If the hospital stay is shorter, the plan must cover a home visit by a nurse within four days.

Practical Notes
If you or someone you know just had a baby, your health plan cannot pressure you to leave the hospital early or deny coverage for the minimum stay.
