§ 62A.048 — Dependent Coverage

Plain-Language Summary

Requires health plans that offer dependent coverage to cover children who do not live with the parent on the same terms as children who do, and to honor court orders requiring a parent to provide health coverage for a child.

Practical Notes
A child cannot be denied coverage because they were born out of wedlock, do not live with the insured parent, or are not claimed on the parent’s tax return.
