§ 62A.148 — Group Insurance; Provision of Benefits for Disabled Employees

Plain-Language Summary

An employer cannot cancel a totally disabled employee's group health insurance just because the employee is unable to work due to the disability. Coverage for the employee's dependents must also continue.

Practical Notes
If you become totally disabled and cannot work, your employer cannot drop your group health insurance — you may need to pay part of the premium to keep it.
