§ 62B.01 — Scope

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains which types of insurance are covered by the credit insurance law. It applies to life, accident and health, and involuntary unemployment insurance connected to loans or credit. It does not apply to insurance on first home mortgage loans or insurance given to borrowers at no cost.

Practical Notes
If you take out a loan and are offered life insurance or disability insurance as part of the deal, this chapter sets the rules that protect you. Insurance provided free of charge to borrowers is not covered by these rules.
