§ 62C.142 — Continuation and Conversion Privileges for Former Spouses and Children

Plain-Language Summary

Grants continuation and conversion privileges to former spouses and dependent children when coverage would otherwise terminate due to divorce, annulment, or legal separation. Allows continued coverage for up to 36 months.

Practical Notes
Former spouses and children affected by divorce or separation can keep their coverage for up to 36 months by paying the applicable premium. They must notify the corporation within 60 days of the court decree. This works similarly to COBRA continuation rights.
