§ 65B.56 — Cooperation of Person Claiming Benefits

Plain-Language Summary

If you are claiming no-fault benefits, you must cooperate with the insurance company. This includes attending medical exams they request (at their expense and in your area) and providing medical records and other information about your injuries. Refusing to cooperate can be used against you in court.

Practical Notes
The insurance company pays for any medical exam it requests, and the exam must be conducted near where you live. You have the right to receive a copy of the examining doctor’s report.
