§ 65B.63 — Assigned Claims Plan

Plain-Language Summary

Insurance companies that provide no-fault auto insurance in Minnesota must maintain an assigned claims plan and bureau to handle claims from people who are entitled to no-fault benefits but do not have an identifiable insurer to pay them. The bureau assigns claims to insurers who then pay the benefits.

Practical Notes
If you are injured in a car accident and there is no identifiable insurer to pay your no-fault benefits (such as a hit-and-run), the assigned claims plan ensures you can still get coverage.
