2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 14.16 — Adoption of Rule; Chief Administrative Law Judge; Filing of Rule

Plain-Language Summary

After the administrative law judge's report finds no problems, the agency can adopt the rule. If the agency modifies the rule, the chief administrative law judge must review the changes to make sure they are legal and not substantially different from the original proposal. The adopted rule is filed electronically with the Secretary of State, who sends copies to the agency, Revisor, and governor.

Practical Notes
If you requested to be notified when a rule is adopted, the agency must notify you on the same day the rule is filed. If the chief administrative law judge finds defects in the rule, the agency must either fix them or withdraw the rule entirely.
