§ 142B.45 — Crib Safety Requirements

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires all licensed child care programs and children's residential facilities to keep records of every crib's brand name and model number. Cribs must meet federal safety standards. License holders must check their cribs against the Consumer Product Safety Commission's list of unsafe cribs every year.

Practical Notes
If you cannot identify a crib’s brand name and model number, you cannot use it for children in your care. Check the Consumer Product Safety Commission website annually to make sure none of your cribs have been recalled. All cribs must meet current federal safety standards for full-size or non-full-size cribs.
