§ 142E.16 — Provider Requirements

Plain-Language Summary

This section sets the requirements that child care providers must meet to receive payment through the Child Care Assistance Program. Providers must be licensed or meet legal nonlicensed status, pass background checks, and comply with health and safety standards. Providers must also register with the state and keep records of care provided.

Practical Notes
Child care providers who want to serve families receiving state assistance must complete the registration or licensing process before they can be paid. Background checks are required for all providers and household members. Providers who fail to meet requirements or are found to have committed fraud may be terminated from the program and required to repay funds.
