§ 179.11 — Employee Unfair Labor Practices

Plain-Language Summary

This section lists unfair labor practices by employees and unions. It is illegal to strike in violation of a valid collective bargaining agreement, seize property during a dispute, or use intimidation to force someone to join or leave a union. A strike must be approved by a majority vote of the bargaining unit before it can begin.

Practical Notes
Picketing by non-employees is restricted unless most picketers are employees of the business. Only one person can picket a single entrance when no strike is in progress. Interfering with vehicles not involved in the dispute is also prohibited. Violations of most of these provisions are unlawful acts that can lead to injunctions.
