2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 204B.14 — Election Precincts

Plain-Language Summary

Every city and town in Minnesota must be divided into election precincts with clear boundaries. Precincts must follow existing political boundaries and should not cross county, city, or legislative district lines. Cities and towns establish and change their own precinct boundaries.

Practical Notes
Precinct boundaries determine where you vote. If you move, your precinct may change. Municipalities must file precinct boundary changes with the secretary of state. Precincts generally cannot have more than a set number of registered voters.
