2025 Session Last amended: 2023 session

§ 204B.21 — Appointment of Election Judges

Plain-Language Summary

Political parties must submit lists of people to serve as election judges. The appointing authority (usually the city council or county board) then selects election judges from these lists. Judges from different major parties must be represented at each precinct.

Practical Notes
If you want to be an election judge, you can contact your political party to be placed on their list, or contact your county auditor or city clerk directly. The bipartisan requirement ensures that no single party controls any polling place.
