2025 Session Last amended: 1983 session

§ 241.23 — Chief Executive Officer to Make Selection

Plain-Language Summary

When inmates are chosen for conservation work, the warden of the correctional facility picks them with the commissioner's approval. First preference goes to inmates at minimum security facilities. Other inmates can be chosen if they are not habitual offenders or convicted of serious crimes and are physically able to do the work.

Practical Notes
Inmates at minimum security facilities get first priority for conservation work assignments. Habitual offenders and those convicted of serious crimes are generally excluded. The warden must consider whether the inmate is suitable for the type of work involved and whether they are physically capable.
