§ 299A.14 — Vehicle Inspection

Plain-Language Summary

Vehicles used to transport wheelchair users must pass an inspection by the State Patrol and display a certificate. The inspection checks that the wheelchair securement device and lift or ramp work properly. Inspections happen annually, and the certificate must be on the windshield.

Practical Notes
Operators must get their vehicles inspected within one month of installing a securement device and before using the vehicle for service. The inspection certificate goes on the lower left corner of the windshield and shows when the next inspection is due. Adding more securement devices triggers a new inspection.
