2025 Session Last amended: 1977 session

§ 394.37 — Enforcement

Plain-Language Summary

This section covers enforcement of county planning and zoning laws. Violating county zoning is a misdemeanor, and fines go to the county general fund. The county attorney can bring lawsuits to stop violations, and any county taxpayer can file a mandamus action to force officials to enforce the law.

Practical Notes
The county can require copies of real estate conveyances to be reviewed for compliance with subdivision regulations. If a conveyance does not comply, the administrative officer must notify the parties by mail. Anyone who violates a county zoning ordinance can be charged with a misdemeanor.
