§ 508A.47 — Registered Lands; Transfer, Surveys

A registered mortgage can be assigned to a new holder by filing an assignment with the registrar. The registrar notes the assignment on the CPT. The new mortgage holder has the same rights as the original one.

Practical Notes
If your mortgage is sold to a different lender, the assignment must be registered with the registrar of titles. The new lender has the same rights as the old one, and the assignment will be noted on your CPT.
