§ 62H.18 — Agricultural Cooperative Health Plan

Plain-Language Summary

Agricultural cooperatives in Minnesota can set up joint self-insurance health plans for their members. The cooperative must have members who actively work in production agriculture or provide direct services to production agriculture. These plans are exempt from the regular MEWA rules but must meet their own specific requirements.

Practical Notes
If you are a farmer or work in production agriculture in Minnesota, your agricultural cooperative may offer a joint self-insurance health plan. These plans have special rules designed for agricultural cooperatives and are regulated differently from standard joint self-insurance plans.
