§ 142G.35 — Payment Provisions; Vendor Payments

Plain-Language Summary

MFIP payments can be made by check, electronic transfer, or direct deposit. The commissioner must mail checks or issue electronic payments so they arrive by the first of each month. If a check is lost or stolen, a replacement must be sent within seven days.

Practical Notes
Most MFIP benefits are issued through electronic benefit transfer (EBT). If your benefits need to go to a protective payee (someone who manages the money for you), the county can arrange that. Lost or stolen checks or EBT cards can be replaced, but you should report the problem right away.
