2025 Session Last amended: 2024 session

§ 142G.70 — Sanctions

Plain-Language Summary

If you do not follow MFIP program requirements without good cause, your benefits will be reduced (sanctioned). For the first through sixth occurrence, your cash grant is cut by 5 percent. A seventh consecutive violation results in your case being closed entirely. Before closing your case, the county must try to meet with you.

Practical Notes
Sanctions are progressive: each month of noncompliance counts as a separate occurrence. If you come back into compliance, the sanction is removed the following month. Before your case is closed at the seventh violation, the county must review whether your employment plan is still appropriate. If your case is closed, you must stay off MFIP for at least one full month before reapplying.
