2025 Session Last amended: 2021 session

§ 171.18 — Suspension

Plain-Language Summary

The commissioner can suspend your driver's license without a hearing if records show you committed an offense that requires revocation, were convicted of a traffic violation that caused death or injury, are a habitually reckless driver, or allowed fraudulent use of your license.

Practical Notes
Unlike revocation, suspension is temporary. You can usually get your license back after the suspension period ends without retaking exams, though you may need to show proof of insurance.
