§ 214.103 — Health-related Licensing Boards; Complaint, Investigation, and Hearing

Plain-Language Summary

This section sets detailed rules for how health licensing boards handle complaints. Boards must notify complainants within 14 days and licensees within 60 days. Complaints should be resolved within one year. The attorney general investigates when needed. Complaints about sexual misconduct cannot be dismissed without sufficient evidence, and at least two board members must agree before any complaint is dismissed.

Practical Notes
If you file a complaint with a health licensing board, you will receive acknowledgment within 14 days and periodic status updates at least every 120 days. The board aims to resolve complaints within one year. If you are a licensee under investigation, you will be notified of the complaint and the alleged violations, unless notice would compromise the investigation.
