§ 260C.190 — Family-focused Residential Placement

Plain-Language Summary

This section requires the responsible social services agency to make 'reasonable efforts' to prevent removal of a child from the home and to reunify families. It also lists situations where reasonable efforts are not required, such as cases of egregious harm.

Practical Notes
Before removing your child, the county must try to provide services to keep your family together. However, in cases involving severe abuse or abandonment, the county does not have to make these efforts.
