2025 Session Last amended: 2025 session

§ 260C.201 — Dispositions; Children in Need of Protection or Services or Neglected and in Foster Care

Plain-Language Summary

If the court finds that a child needs protection or services, the court can order the child to stay at home with supervision, transfer custody to social services or a child-placing agency, or order a trial home visit. The agency must create a case plan that explains what the parents need to do to get the child back.

Practical Notes
The case plan is a key document. Parents must follow the case plan to show they have addressed the problems that led to the child’s removal. The court reviews the case plan regularly.
