§ 325F.70 — Remedies

Plain-Language Summary

Provides remedies for violations of Minnesota's Consumer Fraud Act. The attorney general or county attorneys may seek injunctions. Consumers injured by fraud in connection with personal, family, household, or agricultural purchases may bring private lawsuits to recover damages, attorney fees, and costs.

Practical Notes
This section creates the private right of action that makes the Consumer Fraud Act so powerful for individual consumers. A successful plaintiff can recover attorney fees and investigation costs, making it feasible to bring smaller claims. Family farmers are expressly included as protected consumers.
