§ 142G.27 — Orientation

Plain-Language Summary

County agencies must provide an orientation to MFIP caregivers unless they are already working enough hours. The orientation explains program requirements, work expectations, and available services. Failing to attend without good cause can result in a reduction of your benefits.

Practical Notes
If you are a single parent working at least 35 hours per week, you do not need to attend the orientation. Pregnant and parenting minors who are following their education plan are also exempt. If you miss orientation without a good reason, the county will sanction your benefits, but the sanction is lifted if you comply before the reduction takes effect.
