§ 151.071 — Disciplinary Action

Plain-Language Summary

This section gives the Board of Pharmacy the authority to take disciplinary action against pharmacists, pharmacies, and other licensees. Grounds for discipline include fraud, incompetence, drug diversion, substance abuse, criminal convictions, and violations of pharmacy laws. The board can suspend or revoke licenses, impose fines, and require additional education.

Practical Notes
If a pharmacist makes serious errors, diverts drugs, or violates the law, the Board of Pharmacy can suspend or revoke their license. Pharmacists struggling with substance abuse may be offered a diversion program instead of losing their license. Complaints can be filed by anyone.
