§ 336.2-711 — Buyer's Remedies in General; Buyer's Security Interest in Rejected Goods

Plain-Language Summary

When the seller breaches, the buyer can cancel the contract, recover prepayments, cover (buy substitute goods), and sue for damages. A buyer who rightfully rejects or revokes acceptance also has a security interest in the goods for any prepayments.

Practical Notes
If the seller breaks the deal, you can cancel, get your money back, buy from someone else, and sue for the difference. You also have a lien on any goods you still hold.
