§ 631.40 — Judgment on Conviction; Judgment Roll

Plain-Language Summary

After a criminal conviction, the court administrator must record the judgment and create a judgment roll with key case documents. The court must also check if the convicted person is a school bus driver, Head Start bus driver, licensed professional, or licensed teacher. If so, the court must notify the relevant agencies and licensing boards about the conviction.

Practical Notes
This section has wide-reaching effects beyond prison time. A conviction can trigger notifications to licensing boards, school districts, and the Department of Public Safety. Professionals, teachers, and bus drivers facing criminal charges should understand that their employers and licensing boards will be notified of any conviction.
