§ 142B.10 — Application Procedures

Plain-Language Summary

This section explains how to apply for a child care or foster care license in Minnesota. Applicants must fill out forms, pass background studies, meet fire and safety codes, and allow the commissioner to inspect the program. The commissioner must act on a complete application within 90 working days.

Practical Notes
Applicants must name all controlling individuals and designate an authorized agent. The commissioner will inspect the physical building, review records, and observe the program before issuing a license. License holders must notify the commissioner of any changes to ownership, location, or key personnel. A license cannot be issued if a controlling individual has a disqualification that has not been resolved.
