§ 142G.90 — Diversionary Work Program

Plain-Language Summary

The Diversionary Work Program (DWP) provides short-term help for up to four months to families who can quickly become self-sufficient through employment. During DWP, shelter and utility costs are paid directly to vendors, and participants may receive a small personal needs allowance of up to $70 each.

Practical Notes
DWP is designed to help you get a job quickly so you do not need longer-term MFIP assistance. While on DWP, you are not eligible for MFIP. If you do not find work during the four months, you can then apply for MFIP. Time on DWP generally does not count toward the 60-month MFIP time limit.
